Tilth market may move to Sunday

South Whidbey Tilth wants to find another day for its Saturday farmers market that won't conflict with the Bayview Farmers Market.

South Whidbey Tilth wants to find another day for its Saturday farmers market that won’t conflict with the Bayview Farmers Market.

The group will have the first in a series of planning meetings from 3 to 5 p.m. today in the Freeland Library’s Milby Room, said Susan Prescott, organizer. Interested farmers, artists, bakers, concessionaires, musicians and customers are urged to attend.

Prescott said the group hopes to revert this spring to its original name, South Whidbey Farmers Market, and its new day of operation tentatively would be Sunday, although other days will be considered.

The market, which was founded 40 years ago in Clinton, became affiliated with Washington Tilth in 1982. It spent 18 years at Bayview before securing its current 11 acres at Highway 525 and Thompson Road in 2000.
