Town holds workshop on comp plan update

Coupeville is hosting a public workshop on a comprehensive plan to address issues such as housing.

The town of Coupeville is hosting a public workshop on the first draft of a comprehensive plan to address issues such as housing, land use, historic preservation and economic stability.

The workshop is taking place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 18 at the Coupeville Recreation Hall.

A statement from Coupeville’s website reads: “The comprehensive plan is a statement of a community’s vision, values, and priorities. It guides decision-making, regulations, and investments towards meeting community goals over the coming 20 years.”

The first draft of the plan includes suggestions to reduce the minimum lot size for housing, such as increasing units per acre from 10.89 units to 12 units in high-density residential areas.

The draft includes three versions of future land use designation maps that represent broad policy and planning visions for the different areas of Coupeville.

The 106-page draft of the plan is available to view at townofcoupeville.org/comprehensive-plan-update.

This project has been in the works since September 2021 and is anticipated to be adopted by mid-2023, according to Coupeville’s website.
