Two six-year plans, for capital improvement and transportation, were adopted Monday by Island County commissioners during the board’s regular business meeting.

The $69 million capital improvement plan comprises projects including trails, parks maintenance, drainage work and other projects 2015-2020.

The $39 million transportation plan is mostly included in the capital improvement plan total but focuses on ongoing road maintenance throughout the county’s unincorporated areas 2015-2020.

Public Works Director Bill Oakes said that the plans are usually amended a couple of times a year by the board based on changing budgetary priorities.
