Two Oak Harbor residents were killed in separate motorcycle accidents in the last month.

Emily A. Webb, a 33-year-old Oak Harbor resident, died Thursday afternoon after losing control of her motorcycle on North Whidbey.

James L. Hughes, Jr., a 51-year-old Oak Harbor resident, died June 2 from injuries sustained when his motorcycle was struck by a van on North Whidbey May 25.

Trooper Norm Larsen with the Washington State Patrol is investigating both accidents.

Webb’s 2004 Honda CBR600 was north bound on Reservation Road when she lost control at a curve near the intersection with Hersig Road. The accident was reported at 4:32 p.m. Webb, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the Hughes accident, the State Patrol reported that he was traveling east on Southwest Fort Nugent Avenue on a 2009 Yamaha XV17AW on the morning of May 25. A van turning left onto Southwest Stremler Drive struck Hughes’ motorcycle. Hughes, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle to be treated for life-threatening head injuries. He died June 2.
