The Island County Assessor’s Office said “change of value notices” went to the mail this year on Aug. 31. Property owners can expect to receive their notices the first week of September.

County officials said “change of value” notices have been redesigned this year to be more readable for property owners and include assessment, exemption and appeal information in addition to value information.

The county assessor’s office is also reminding property owners that the “change of value” notice is not a tax bill. Anyone with questions about valuations should call or visit the assessor’s office.

Property owners who want to challenge the market value of their properties have 60 days from Aug. 31 to file an appeal.
