“The South Whidbey Record has been providing its readers with award-winning community journalism since 1921.The Record serves the south end of Whidbey Island, beginning with the Island gateway of Clinton, where Washington State ferries dock after crossing Puget Sound from the mainland and Seattle. The newspaper readership encompasses several communities: the small but busy hub of Clinton with its beachfronts and rural acreages; the picturesque village of Langley, a center of both visual and performing arts and a strong visitor destination year-round; small, bustling Freeland, presently experiencing strong business and service growth; and the tiny hamlet of Greenbank on the outskirts of Central Whidbey, home to the publicly-owned Greenbank Farm and the famous 54-acre Meerkerk Rhododendron Gardens. With a continued goal of excellence in community journalism, the South Whidbey Record maintains a high standard of reporting, analysis, opinion and photography. Each issue reflects the diversity of its audience and addresses issues of interest and importance: from land use and road improvements to schools, crime, county and city government, community events, sports, boating and recreation, arts and entertainment and features on the people and places that make South Whidbey unique.”
