Those looking for a little nighttime whale watching can do so while funding the Orca Network and Langley Whale Center with an evening cruise on the Mystic Sea this weekend.

Gray whales have been seen in Puget Sound, including Saratoga Passage off the east side of South Whidbey, over the past few weeks. All proceeds from the Sunday, March 30 cruise — tickets cost $75 — benefit Orca Network and the whale center, which is operated by the network. The cruise includes wine and hors d’oeuvres.

Monte and Cindy Hughes, owners of Mystic Sea Charters, are donating their boat and time for the cause. Susan Berta and Howard Garrett, founders of Orca Network, will join the cruise out of Langley to talk about the whales.

The Langley Whale Center is a free museum of Puget Sound marine mammals, from seals to gray whales, their history and habitats.
