Whidbey Democrats hold annual meeting

The Whidbey Island Democratic Club will celebrate its 14th anniversary party and hold its annual business meeting later this month in Coupeville.

The Whidbey Island Democratic Club will celebrate its 14th anniversary party and hold its annual business meeting later this month in Coupeville.

Tom Riggs, a former candidate for a 10th District House seat and a Camano park ranger, will be the guest speaker. Riggs will talk about wealth, poverty and economic injustice in America and discussing its political implications.

The annual meeting is 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 20 at the Coupeville Rec Hall. The election of board members, outstanding awards and a membership drive will be part of the celebration. New members are encouraged to join.

Elected officials planning to attend are Island County Prosecuting Attorney Greg Banks, Commissioners Helen Price-Johnson and Angie Homola, Island County Treasurer Ana Maria Nunez, Island County Clerk Debra Van Pelt and Town of Coupeville Mayor Nancy Conard.

Light refreshments will be served. Admission is $5. Membership is $12 per person.
