Salmon of Whidbey Island, beware. Two dozen women anglers learned the basics and some more refined skills about salmon fishing from shore on Sunday.

They practiced casting at the beach afterward.

This is the fourth year Trinity Lutheran Church has offered free fishing lessons to women and teenage girls, requesting that every other salmon caught is donated to the Good Cheer Food Bank.

Another class will be taught Aug. 9 by Jerry Shimek.
