Wood chips given away on Saturday

Do you need something to keep the weeds down in your garden.If so, turn out for the big South Whidbey wood chip giveaway Saturday at the county’s Cultus Bay Road pit site. Starting at 8 a.m., county public works staff will be on hand to give out approximately 500 cubic yards of wood chips and mulch for the bargain price of absolutely nothing. That’s right, it’s free.The county will do all the loading, so the only thing you need to bring is a truck, wheelbarrow, bucket, or anything else that will hold the chips. Everyone who takes the chips will be required to sign a hold harmless agreement. The wood chip giveaway runs until 4:30 p.m. Saturday.To get to the pit site, drive south from Highway 525 on Cultus Bay Rd. for approximately 4 miles.
