Alvin R. Brons

Alvin R. Brons left this world at 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007.

He was beloved husband of Marguerite C, Brons, who passed this earth on Dec. 25, 1985.

He was survived by his ex-wife and loving companion Lillian Brons, of Langley; daughter Linda Peterson, of Marysville; son, Alvin Brons Jr. of Shoreline; stepsons John and James Barringer of Edmonds; brother Kenneth Brons of Edmonds and sister Mary Jane Bauman of Arkansas. He was preceded by his stepdaughter Susan Cupps and daughter Gloria Hodges. He had 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was the oldest son of Olga and Paul Brons of Enumclaw, where Alvin was born Sept. 1, 1917. Growing up in Ballard and Lake Forest Park, he spent 35 years as a resident of Whidbey Island and was a skilled cabinet maker.

In his retirement he was a woodsman and logged his own land, sold firewood and catered to the elderly on the island by delivering and stacking the wood for them. Among his favorite hobbies he loved playing bridge and became a grand master at the game. A great lover of animals, Alvin also enjoyed sharing his gardens with friends and family. In his last 10 years he donated 20 acres of land to the island of Whidbey where it stands today as a memorial park in the name of his late wife Margurite; so many people have been able to enjoy the woods and open space to let their dogs run free.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Visser Funeral Home in Langley, with a graveside gathering and a joining of friends and family to follow.
