Evelyn Muzzall

Evelyn “Evee” Muzzall died May 30, 2008.

Evee was born to Arthur A. and Hulda Koenecke Goetsch in Janesville, Wisc. on Aug. 22, 1924. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her sister, Di. Evee attended grade school at St. Paul’s Parochial and graduated from Janesville High School. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison for two years majoring in Dietetics.

While attending the university, mutual friends arranged a blind date for Evelyn and Robert, a handsome fly boy with the Army Air Corps.

Following a whirlwind romance, Evelyn and Robert were married on the family farm in Oak Harbor on June 13, 1945. After being stationed in numerous locations with the Air Corps until the end of the war they returned to Whidbey Island. Evee and Bob enjoyed a happy, successful life on the farm including dairy, poultry and crop production. They had many blessings to count.

Evee was an active member of Oak Harbor Lutheran Church serving as chairman of the Social Concerns Committee and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Since 1996 she also participated in Stephens Ministry. Her community involvements included organizations such as 4-H, various school committees, and hosting foreign youth exchange students. She also was a very involved dairy wife and Muzzall Farms was honored as the 1972 Island County Dairy Farm Family of the year.

Evee also enjoyed membership in a Pinochle Card Club for over 50 years. Her greatest loves included knitting, gardening and homemaking in every capacity. She was an avid cook and baker and many were the recipients of her thoughtful and delicious culinary delights.

She and Bob enjoyed 62 years of wedded bliss working side by side on the farm overlooking scenic Penn Cove and Coupeville. Bob died last August after losing a heroic battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Soon after, Evee suffered multiple medical problems, and died, finally reuniting with Bob. Her family meant the world to Evee and she leaves behind children Michael Muzzall and Wendy, Maura Muzzall and Ken, Robi Muzzall Marshall and Rodney, Ronald Muzzall and Shelly, 11 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Memorial services for Evee Muzzall were held Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Oak Harbor Lutheran Church with Pastor Jerry Buss officiating.

Private family burial proceeded at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor. Memorials may be made to Oak Harbor Lutheran Church.
