Frances Mott

Frances Erma Mott put on clip earrings and lipstick and checked the stove three times every day before going out. A stream of perseverance in good habits flowed through her 92 years. She cooked five food groups for every dinner, the fifth being home-baked desserts with whipped cow’s cream!

Frances, born in Oak Park, Illinois, January 15, 1921, to Nellie and Paul Butchart, loved children. During her youth in Spokane she helped care for five younger siblings, especially her youngest and only living brother, Don Butchart, who lives in Oregon. She taught third grade a Electric City and Monroe after finishing CheneyCollege. She reared daughters Pauline Stamon and Peg Mott, son John Mott, niece Caroline McGlasson of Renton, and babysat many others. In later years she lived with and loved her tiny great granddaughter Savannah Stamon, daughter of Elizabeth Stamon of Elma.

Frances served in the Navy at the Fleet Post Office in San Francisco but didn’t leave her heart there. Her persevering persuasion won the heart of Jim Mott. Well-documented dates flowed into a June, 1953 wedding and a honeymoon in a camp trailer in Montana where Jim herded sheep. Their healthy life on the farm near Langleycontinued for 45 years where they attended the Methodist Church and she taught Sunday School faithfully.

At a Winning Women meeting in 1971 Frances received Christ’s free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. She joyfully participated in many Bible studies and praise groups. The times when she couldn’t go on she asked and watched Jesus heal, restore and give joy. She persevered in prayers of blessing for her family until her final breath at Korey and Pauline Stamon’s home in Montesano, January 7, 2013.

Frances Mott’s family hope for the honor of your presence at her memorial and potluck Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 11: AM at the Langley United Methodist Church.
