Harry B. Rich passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sept. 10, 2006, in Freeland.
He was born July 9, 1927 in Trenton, N.J., the only son of Madeline and Harry H. Rich.
He attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (1946-’49); was an active duty U.S. Air Force pilot (1950-’53); graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in architecture and a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Oklahoma State University.
Rich practiced architecture in Seattle from 1957 to 1989, with his sole practice from 1972-1989. He was a member AIA Emeritus, Capitol Hill Community Council; and on Whidbey Island was a charter member of Penn Cove Gallery, a member of Artists of South Whidbey, Greenbank Artists and Art League North.
He leaves his beloved wife, Claire; children, Suzanne, John Leslie (Darlene), Jennifer (Marc), Lauren, Christina, Harry Jr., and Kenneth; two grandchildren Lindsay and Ryan; and great-grandchild Joel Aiden.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Langley.
