Horace S. Bartholomew, 86 of Langley, died Dec. 25, 2011 at home.

Bart was born in 1925, and was a resident of South Whidbey since 1959. He served in the Navy during World War II, the Army Air Corps and retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service.

He worked as a building inspector for the city of Langley and as a carpenter on South Whidbey.

Bart is survived by three sons and one daughter, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7 at Visser Funeral Home.
