Irena “Irene” Isabella Kallay Conlin left us on Feb. 15, 2011 after a short illness.
Irena was born in Chicago, Ill. on Aug. 29, 1917 to Jan (George) and Zofia (Sophia) A. Zbroniec Kallay.
Irene’s son Ron has been a longtime resident of Clinton, as was her brother Adam (Bill) Kallay, who passed away some years back on Whidbey Island.
She raised five children mostly single-handedly after the death of her husband Edison J. Conlin.
She moved from Chicago to New Orleans, thereafter to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., then to Everett where she resided for many years, living the last four years in Seattle with her loving son-in-law Jay and Randy and Victoria, her loving son and daughter.
Our mother was a loving, giving and amazingly talented woman. She is cherished by her children, James Sereyka, Ron and Randy Conlin, Veronica DeGraaf and Victoria Wangsmo. Irene’s grandchildren, Nikki, Sergi, Greg, Dante, Sean and Seth and many great-grandchildren, along with extended family in Chicago and in Europe, love her dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2619 Cedar St., Everett. A website is also available to view at http://irene.last-memories.com. She will be laid to rest in a ceremony in Snohomish.
