Jacob Whitaker

Jacob Justin Whitaker, 28, of Freeland, passed away Tuesday June 25, 2013 at Whistle Lake in Anacortes, Washington. He was born on July 27, 1984 in Bellingham, Washington. For his entire life, he lived on Whidbey Island except when off working in the Bering Sea.

Jacob learned various trades while working at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders. He also worked his way to 3rd Engineer while working on various commercial fishing vessels in the Bering Sea. Jacob loved life and the people in it, from the lower 48 to the Bering Sea. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, swimming, fishing, adventures and getting others motivated. He enjoyed helping others. He just liked being Jake. He will be missed and never forgotten.

A viewing will be held at Visser Funeral Home on July 5, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 6, 2013 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 6th and Cascade in Langley Washington with Pastor Michael Berry officiating. Burial will take place in the Bayview Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
