Jody Hendrickson, age 56, died suddenly at her home in Clinton on May 19, 2011.
Jody moved to Whidbey Island in 1983, settling in Clinton, where she raised her four daughters.
In 1998, she went to work at the Clinton and Mukilteo ferry docks as a ticket agent and traffic director.
Jody was an amazing woman with many talents and passions. She was a gifted painter of watercolors and oils; restored antique furniture; and recently learned to sail, pursuing her love for the open water. She also had a passion for volunteer work, and enjoyed helping at both the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) and the Union Gospel Mission.
Jody embraced the world, and saw beauty in everything and everyone. She was interested in the lives of all those she met. She loved flowers, color, and the diversity of life on this planet; but more than anything, she loved her family.
Jody had a passion for music, and could not keep from dancing if there was a song in the air.
Jody was born in Arcata, Calif. on June 14, 1954 to Dale and Charlotte Granger. She was raised in California and Oregon, and graduated from high school in Reno, Nev.
In 1976, she moved to Orem, Utah, where she was married on Feb. 15, 1978 to Stan Hendrickson. They were together for 26 years.
She will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched, including her children Alex Hendrickson, Lisa Gardner, Ivy Hammond (husband Michael) and Rosa Allred (husband Casey); her companion for the past six years, Barry Pyeatt; and her grandchildren Devin, Xavier, Monica, Rocky, Julia and a boy on the way. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha Granger and by her half-brothers and sisters Bill Granger, Brian Granger, Erica Granger and Samantha Granger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Steven Granger.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to Displaced Orphans International.
A party in celebration of Jody’s life will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. June 14 at Maxwelton Beach. Details can be obtained by e-mailing hahendrickson@gmail.com.
