June Herget

June L. Herget was born 91 years ago in Seattle on June 29, 1920 to parents Eric and Gurli Brattstrom, naturalized citizens originally from Sweden.

She and her brother Roland grew up in the greater Seattle area. During her early years her father was the Swedish Consul located in Seattle which enabled many opportunities for travel to Sweden, enjoying visits to family and friends living there.

June graduated from Broadway High School and worked several years for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. Beginning at a young age and continuing throughout her life, June stayed very athletic and loved to dance, especially with John, her husband of 58 years. Now, together again, they can resume the love affair that began so many years ago.

June leaves behind many friends and memories from her exciting and fulfilling life. She and John had lasting friendships from the phone company and from Sears and Roebuck, where John had worked for so many years, from the places to which they traveled, and all the places they had the opportunity to call home.

They spent time living throughout the Seattle area and on Whidbey Island, several years in the Methow Valley and Issaquah, and finally coming back to Whidbey Island to watch the sunsets and enjoy the last chapters of a wonderful book.

She left us peacefully on Sept. 24, 2011 at her home at Maple Ridge in Freeland, and will be remembered well for her grace, charm and beautiful smile.

June is survived by her son, daughter and three wonderful grandchildren: son Paul Herget of Twisp; daughter Barbara Stone, who lives with husband Jeff on Whidbey Island; and grandchildren Kelly Danielson and husband Glen, Sommer Albertsen and Jordan Albertsen, all of the greater Seattle area.

June, you’re being missed, but still loved, by all. Take care.
