Larry Wayne McQueen was born on the JC Penny farm in Gallatin, Mo. on June 22, 1937 to Roy Glenn McQueen and Mary Francis McQueen.
He is survived by his two brothers, Robert (Susan) and Dennis (Raylene). He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Shirley Anne Bilodeau. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts, as well as his best friend Melvin Miller of St. Joseph, Mo.
The family migrated to Colorado in
1948, then in later years Larry ended up on Whidbey Island, where he met Virginia Green and had two sons, Steve (Dawn) and David (Deborah).
He worked at Waterman Mill until its closure. He then divorced and moved back to Colorado, where he married Phyllis Strempel, who had two children, Lori and Ronald. They moved back to Whidbey to join his brother Robert in business, which was known as Whidbey Marine & Auto (McQueens BP) in Freeland.
After 15 years he retired, divorced and moved to Arlington, where he met the last love of his life, Lucille (Lucy) Walker. Their time together was very close.
Larry loved his years in Colorado and Washington, especially snowmobiling in the mountains.
Larry’s ashes will be spread in the Cascade Mountains above Cle Elum, as well as in the Rocky Mountains at Red Rocks, Colo. There will be no memorial, only a small family gathering. In lieu of flowers, send a small donation in Larry’s name to the South Whidbey Lions Club Eye Bank.
