Lucille Nelson passed away June 14, 2011 at age 91 surrounded by loving family.

She was born to Sofus and Sofie Hansen and raised in Burlington with three brothers.

She graduated from Swedish Hospital School of Nursing and married Walter Nelson in 1942. Together they raised three children in West Seattle and then retired to their summer home on Whidbey Island where they lived the rest of their lives.

Lucille loved spending time with her family, playing bridge with friends and golf when she could. She needle crafted beautiful hardanger and knitted items.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 62 years and two brothers.

She is survived by her children Susan Bell (Kenneth), Jon Nelson (Karen) and Sari Clements (Ciel); eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Carl Hansen (Dixie) and sister-in-law Alma Hansen.

A celebration of Lucille’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 at the family home on Whidbey Island.
