Margaret E. (Hunziker) Bolin was born and raised in Langley to Walter and Alice Hunziker. She passed away Dec. 18, 2006.
Margaret was born the fourth daughter, on Friday the 13th, Nov. 13, 1914. She was one of five sisters and a brother.
Margaret moved to Seattle in the late 1930s were she met and married Lorenz (Bill) Bolin in 1939. They settled in Lake City where she lived until the last few years of her life.
She and Bill had two children, Mary and James. When Bill became ill with Parkinson’s, Margaret started working for the Internal Revenue Service. She worked for IRS until her retirement at age 62.
For the rest of her adult life Margaret came back to “The Island” to see her family and for the Hunziker family picnic on the Fourth of July.
Beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Margaret will be deeply missed by her family. She was a spunky lady and always had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed traveling and was always up for a game of pinochle. For many years after her retirement she was an active member of the Greenwood Senior Center in Seattle.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents, her three older sisters and her brother. She is survived by her sister, Winnie Shelton of Coupeville; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and John Solack of Seattle; son and daughter-in-law, James and Ardeth Bolin of Langley; grandson, Mark Solack and fiancée Erin Johnson of Tumwater; grandson, Brian Solack and wife, Jenine of Everett; grandson, Evan Bolin of Bellevue; great-grandchildren, Jared and Kaylie Solack of Everett; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped Margaret: for many years the wonderful staff at Merrill Gardens at Northgate; Anderson House Skilled Nursing center; Evergreen Hospice; and especially Cristina, Elvira, George and Adriana, the gentle, caring staff at Bellcare II Adult Family Home, who made Margaret’s last days comfortable.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Margaret requested donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Soar like a seagull, Mother. We love you.
