Marilyn Versoi

Marilyn Versoi, was born Marilyn B. Matthews on May 19, 1932 in Spokane, and passed away July 20, 2009 in Everett of natural causes.

The daughter of Frances Rolfe (Dot, Wash.) and William B. Matthews (Ames City, Ill.), Marilyn grew up in Spokane; Hood River, Ore.; and Stevenson before moving to Seattle, where she graduated from Cleveland High School.

Marilyn was very close to her brother, Ted Matthews, and her sister Barbara (Matthews) Smith. They enjoyed singing and playing guitar together.

After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1950, she married Robert H. Fletcher (Seattle) and raised two sons in South Park and Kent; Steve Fletcher (Des Moines) and Guyle Fletcher (Everett).

Marilyn started her career at Boeing, then went to Seattle First National Bank. From her first role as a teller at Industrial Branch she advanced to assistant vice president of special credits at the head office. She graduated from University of Washington Pacific Banking School, and volunteered for many public and private committees.

In 1972, Marilyn married James Versoi and the extended family included Jim’s children, Keith, Kathy and Jenny. She and Jim built a house at Goss Lake on Whidbey Island.

After Jim passed away, she moved to Bonney Lake, then to Everett where she lived near Guyle.

We will miss her, but believe she is in a better place now.

Marilyn’s wishes were that no service be held in her honor.
