Marylin Rudolph

Marylin Rudolph was born July 10, 1937 in Tacoma to Edith and James Morgan, and sister to John (Jack) Morgan. Marylin passed away at Careage of Whidbey on Nov. 29, 2010.

With her husband Rudy at her side, she fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.

They truly adored each other and shared 54 wonderful years together. They raised three children, Laurie Shorett, (husband Rick, and daughter Kaitlyn) Kathy Gau, (husband Dennis, sons Matthew and Kelly, and daughter Maria) and Gary Rudolph (wife Liz, son Joshua, and daughter Emily).

Marylin and Rudy enjoyed 33 years in Bellevue, and then found their dream home on Whidbey Island in 1992, after Rudy retired from Boeing.

In 2000, they purchased a condo in Peoria, Ariz. and officially became “rainbirds.” They enjoyed the sun, exploring the area and wonderful friends each year.

Marylin loved growing beautiful flowers, taking care of the birds, and supporting the Mariners no matter what the score.

After the children were raised, she found fulfillment working at the Foxy Lady Consignment shop and doing food demonstrations at grocery stores.

We all have treasured memories of family gatherings for the holidays, and birthday celebrations that were so important to her. She never missed a special occasion, and made sure you received a card or a phone call. Marylin’s true gift was that of being a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was so giving of herself, and made special friends wherever she went. Marylin will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes, warm hugs, friendly smile and listening ear. She will be missed by all.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 18341 Highway 525, Freeland. A reception will follow.

To honor her, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org). Arrangements are with the assistance of Whidbey Memorial Funeral & Cremation, 746 NE Midway Blvd., Oak Harbor.
