Rosalie A. Foster

Rosalie A. Foster passed away Nov. 8, 2006 at the age of 92 in the loving hands of caretakers at Whidbey House Adult Family Home in Freeland.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1913 in Crookstan, Minn. to Alfred and Jane Callahan.

Rosalie married Roy C. Foster on Oct. 16, 1973. They were true soul mates and completely devoted to each other for over 50 years.

She is survived by her husband Roy; five children Robert Michael Corbley, Charles Mark Corbley, William Stephen Corbley, Jeanne Butler Cooke, Joanne Price (David); grandchildren Christine Corbley, Mike Corbley, Angela Bracht (Travis), Jennifer Dades (Mike) Brandy Brown, Caitlan Sills, great grandchildren Makenzie, Triston and Ryder.

Rosalie and Roy lived at Three Tree Point in Burien for 50 years before moving to Whidbey.

After she retired from Boeing she worked as a teacher’s aide in the Highline School District and was a regular volunteer on the election board.

Rosalie was a member of the Senior Services of South Whidbey and played bridge there Monday and Friday for over 20 years. She and her partner Jean Talmadge won the bridge tournament held at Useless Bay Golf & Country Club three consecutive times. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at American Legion Post No. 141.

She was a longtime contributor to public television stations KUOW and KPLU. She also subscribed to The New Yorker and The Nation magazines for over 50 years.

Her enthusiasm and sense of humor will be sorely missed by her family and all those who knew her.

A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
