Stanley E. “Sandy” Erickson, 59, died May 14, 2005, in Bellevue following a long battler with cancer. Sandy, beloved husband of Patti Erickson and son of Virginia “Ginger” and Gordon Erickson of Whidbey Island leaves behind a loving and extended family and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Sandy was born Nov, 26, 1945, in Everett, the third of four sons of Ginger and Gordon Erickson. For the first eight years of his life, Sandy and his family lived in Clinton. The family then moved to north Seattle. Throughout his life he spent summers with his extended family and friends at Bells Beach on Whidbey Island.

He was a graduate of Ingraham High School and the University of Washington where he received his degree in electrical engineering. After graduation, he married Patti Costello, and they relocated to the east coast where Sandy was employed by General Electric. While in New York he received a masters degree in business from Union College. They returned to the west coast so he could attend Hastings Law School in San Francisco. After receiving his law degree, he began a 25-year legal career. He worked for the Inslee, Best, Chapin and Johnson law firm in Bellevue where he became partner. He later started his own practice, Erickson Barkshire with new law partner, Maryann Barkshire.

His family will remember many endearing qualities about Sandy that made him such a special person. He had a wonderful, easy going and amicable manner. He could always be counted on to provide that ear if you needed to talk to someone or needed help with a problem. No matter what he was working on he would make the time.

He is survived by his wife, Patti; parents Ginger and Gordon Erickson; brothers Dale, Bruce (Kathleen), Joe; sister-in-law Paulette Miller; nieces and nephews Stephanie (Adam), Emily (Jon), Lila, Jennifer, Leah, Brooke, Michaela, Michael, Lisa Jeffery and Natalie.

A memorial celebration will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, 411 University St. Seattle.
