Walter V. Nordquist, 79, passed away Oct. 18, 2008.

He was born in Saint Louis County, Minn. on Aug. 6, 1929 in a small cabin near a lake. His family moved to Washington when he was 8 years old. Walter and his parents enjoyed farming in Snohomish.

Walter was a carpenter by trade. Walter and Betty moved to Whidbey Island, where they retired after 10 years of service with the South Whidbey School District. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and golf.

Walter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; daughter, Constance (Thomas) Giboney; daughter, Juleen Hall; son, Gary Nordquist; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 30 at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will be held in La Tierra Mobile Clubhouse following the graveside service.
