Fees from the race help fund the Coupeville High School graduation party.

The race Saturday, Aug. 10 winds through Ebey’s Landing National Historical Preserve. Runners start the out-and-back course near Coupeville Elementary School at the Mickey Clark Field. The course makes two loops around Ebey’s Landing, starting with about a three-mile loop, then a second, longer loop along Terry Road, Fort Casey Road and South Engle Road before returning to the school.

Along the route, runners can see Mount Baker, the Olympic mountain range, Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Cascade mountain range and Mount Rainier.

The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the half marathon course will remain open for three hours. To join Race the Reserve, visit racethereserve.com; fees are $55 for the half marathon or $60 the day of the race.
