The South Whidbey boys golf team beat Cedarcrest 191-237 last week.

“The Falcons soared to another victory to improve their season record to 7-1 in sunny and dry conditions,” reported Falcon coach Steve Jones.

Shane Thompson earned medalist honors for South Whidbey with an impressive score of 35. At one point, Thompson was 3-under-par with a miraculous chip-in on the par-5 fourth hole, which gave him an eagle, Jones said.

“I’m very pleased with the consistent play of the entire team,” Jones said. “We putted the ball very well and minimized mistakes on the course by using course management skills which keeps big numbers off the scorecard. I’m really proud of their performance today.”

Thompson shot 35 for the Falcons; Brooks Guetlin finished at 38, Perry Cooley 39, Harrison Price 39 and Josh Yingling 40.

At 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, the boys host King’s at Useless Bay Golf Club for a Cascade Conference showdown with the Knights, their closest rival for this year’s league championship.
