Falcons lose 2 / Softball

The South Whidbey High School softball team lost 12-8 at Bellevue Christian Friday, April 12, and 17-3 to visiting Granite Falls Monday, April 15.

In the non-league loss to BC (2-8), the hitting stars were Kayla Knauer, Myah Majestic, Melody Wilkie, Natalie Wilmoth and Chanel Sterba, according to coach Brad Jaeger.

Madalyn Moss recorded the top defensive play, Jaeger said, with an “outstanding catch in the outfield.”

Sterba slugged a home run to put South Whidbey ahead 1-0 in the Granite Falls game, but the Tigers (4-1, 7-5) exploded in the fourth and fifth innings to pull away. Sterba finished 2-for-2 with a walk.

The Falcons (1-4, 4-7) play at Sultan (0-4, 0-7) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 17.
