Chris Kesler, 48, successfully summited Mount Baker on Friday.

He was joined by three other climbers along with two guides on the trip as a fundraiser for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Kesler, a Freeland resident, said the hikers completed their trek in decent weather.

“Without all of you this would not be possible,” Kesler said in an email. “Many goals were achieved during the last few months, training and seeking donations, and finally the climb itself.”

This was Kesler’s second time participating with Climb to Fight Breast Cancer. Last year, he hiked to the summit of Mount Adams with his work, Lydig Construction.

To take part in the trip, Kesler had to pledge to raise $5,000. As of Aug. 5, he raised $4,300 and had a few weeks left to gather the full funding. Donations may be made online at http://getinvolved.fhcrc.org/goto/chris
