Cedarcrest bounced back from a game two loss to defeat South Whidbey 25-23 in the third game of this week’s Cascade Conference girls volleyball matchup.

Cedarcrest [2-0] won over South Whidbey 25-12, 15-25, 25-23, 25-16 Thursday night in Erikson Gym.

South Whidbey is 1-1 in league play and overall.

“Last night’s game was intense,” said Falcons coach Mandy Jones. “The girls played very well and gave Cedarcrest a run for their money. I don’t think they expected us to do so well.”

Jones added that the defense dominated the court with middles Katie Holt and Cayla Calderwood with four blocks each and Allison Wood with 22 digs.

“Wood did outstanding on offense with 18 kills,” Jones added. “We need to bring up the offense to a level of difficulty in order to win, and that is what we are going to work on in the next couple of practices. Overall,

I was very proud of the girls. They played like a team, and fought really hard to stay in the match.”
