The team is not.

In matches against Burlington-Edison and Bellingham high schools, the boys tennis team lost 3-4 and 2-5, respectively.

Riley Newman and Van Morgen, the number one and two singles players for the Falcons, respectively, won their matches. Against Burlington-Edison, the third victory came from top doubles team Harrison Price and Zach Comfort, both juniors.

Price said they played aggressively and placed their serves well in the first set, but lost 6-3. Faced with a more competitive Bellingham team, the doubles team lost in the second set 6-1.

“We played OK,” Price said.

The team lineup was changed by a foot injury to senior Brendan Riley, the third singles player. He will be out for the season.

The match scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10 against Anacortes High School was cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday at South Whidbey High School.

The Falcon tennis team is 0-2 heading into South Whidbey’s upcoming match with Anacortes.
