As part of its ongoing firearms safety program, the Central Whidbey Sportsman’s Association is sponsoring its annual women’s firearm safety class this weekend.

The class is free and is open only to women.

The class will include firearm safety, proper handling of a firearm, safe storage of a firearm and the law and firearms. It also includes firing range instruction. All instruction is provided by retired Island County Sheriff’s Office detectives.

Participants should bring their own handgun, ammunition and eye and ear protection. The association will provide equipment for those who do not own gear.

The Women’s Firearm Safety Class meets at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 30 and will last into the afternoon. This class does not require pre-registration.

The class will be held at the CWSA clubhouse and range, located 2.5 miles south of Coupeville on Safari Street, which is just south of Highway 20 and Morris Road and just north of the Outlying Field. There is a sign on the highway.
