Fishin’ Club features speakers

The Whidbey Island Fishin’ Club’s monthly meeting July 5 features three speakers presenting information on crabbing, catching salmon and what to do with a fish after you snag it.

The public is invited to the free speaker series. Each presentation is 20 minutes long and will be presented to small groups simultaneously. Pick one talk or go to all three.

“This format will give the listeners the advantage of being part of a small intimate audience,” said club member Ken Price.

Kevin Lungren will provide information on what to use for crabbing, where to crab and when to crab. John Kassik will talk about catching salmon from shore or from a boat. Lou Lee will talk about handling a fish and preserving it; then she’ll demonstrate cooking up a filet. Salmon recipes will also be reviewed.

Whidbey Island Fishin’ Club meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at M-BAR-C Ranch, 5264 Shore Meadow Road, Freeland. More information is at www.myfishinclub.com.
