Island Dance took home a lot of hardware after claiming several awards at the Rainbow National Competition.

A judged competition, Rainbow hosts several dance events and put on the most recent one Jan. 15-17 in Kent. Island Dance’s teen and senior team received a double platinum score and first place overall for the 15 to 19-year-old division for “Mind Heist.”

Soloists Taylor Pitts, 10, and Fiona Roberts, 16, and the junior lyrical group received the All Star Dancer invitation to travel to New York City for a workshop, to meet the Rockettes and tour the city. Several Island Dance performing team members went on the trip in 2015, according to a news release.

The junior lyrical piece, “Pages of my Letter,” by Taylor Pitts, Freja Heggenes, Niki Taylor and Faith Mathew, all between 9 and 11 years old, receives a special judge’s choice award. They also received a platinum award for “Passion of the Heart.”

Soloist Grace Colby received a double platinum award and eighth place overall for the teen division.
