Genevieve Martin: 1930 – 2018

Jen was born in Kansas City, one of 11 children. She came to Seattle in 1948, met and married John in 1949. They were married 63-plus years until his passing in 2013. They bought a cabin on Sunlight Beach in 1968 and eventually lived permanently in the area they both loved so much.

Jen was incredibly gifted at cooking, oil painting, sewing and knitting, and her pastry baking was legendary. Her passion was gardening. She created magic with plants, family, friends and beloved pets.

In Seattle and later on Whidbey she was active in volunteering, bridge, bowling and garden club.

Jen is survived by her children Jean Martin, Jody Cain and Jim Martin (Gloria). She also has two surviving sisters Freddy and Dottie. Other local relatives include Joy Edwards and Molly Thompson and families.

An informal memorial celebration is planned for this summer on her favorite beach.

Remembrances can be made to the South Whidbey Garden Club.
