Gretchen Elaine Odle: Jan. 18, 1965 – Dec. 26, 2018

Gretchen Elaine Odle, age 53, passed on Dec. 26, 2018, in Clinton.

She is survived by her daughter Chantell Elaine Boyle of Clinton; her daughter Sydney Jeane Boyle of Clinton; her brothers Greg Odle, Tristian Odle and Erik Odle; as well as her three grandchildren Xavier Jenson Broyles, Ezekiel Roland Broyles and Penelope Laine Walther. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Sandra Odle of Clinton.

Gretchen was born on Jan. 18, 1965, in Seattle and adopted by parents James Odle and Sandra Odle. She graduated from South Whidbey High School in 1983. Upon returning to raise her family on Whidbey Island, she worked at many establishments: Ace Leather Goods, Whidbey Island Bank and Clinton Video, which she owned.

As a child, Gretchen enjoyed riding horses, swimming and boating. Her father owned a cabin cruiser and they would take frequent trips to the San Juan Islands and Stewart Island for fishing and crabbing. As an adult, she took on hobbies of sewing and gardening as well as attending sports events for her children. Gretchen loved every holiday and each one was a fun venture; she would enjoy decorating her house and spreading holiday joy.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday Jan. 6, at Bayview Hall, 5642 Bayview Road, Langley. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Gretchen’s life.
