Mary Eulalie Lowe: Nov. 29, 1928 – April 1, 2019

Mary Eulalie Lowe, of Langley, Wash., passed away on April 1, 2019 at Fidalgo Care Center at the age of 90.

Mary was born in Des Moines, Iowa on Nov. 29, 1928, to Kenneth Evans and Thyra Lee (Buck) Evans. She grew up in Evanston, Ill. with her brother, John, and sisters, Dee Dee, Peggy and Kendra.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Lowe (JT); son, Fred Johnson; and brother, John Evans.

Mary enjoyed making art, traveling and reading. She obtained her bachelor of arts degree from Northwestern University in Illinois and her master of fine arts degree from San Jose State University in California.

Mary specialized in glass and ceramics.

Mary fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and later retired and relocated with JT to Whidbey Island, where they both became full-time artists. She was a very talented glass artist who specialized in glass fusing of large plates and bowls. Mary regularly collaborated with JT on beautiful works of art combining her glass fusing with his wood sculpting. Their work was displayed at the local artist cooperative in Langley.

Mary is survived by her daughters Kendra Johnson, Denise Carlton, and Elizabeth Fisher; her stepdaughters Martha Ann Kelly and Carol Kinner; sisters Dee Dee Boyer, Peggy Fasy and Kendra Higgins; grandsons Kenneth Johnson and Eric Kelly; and by her granddaughters Katie Fisher, Megan Fisher, and Alice Kinner. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

She was a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
