Quake shakes Whidbey Island

That wasn’t a big firecracker: A small earthquake shook Whidbey Island on July 4.

The small shake, first measured at a magnitude of 3.6 on the Richter scale, was centered 19 miles northeast of Port Angeles, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey.

Whidbey Island experienced light shaking, and no damage was immediately reported. The quake, which happened at 1:37 p.m. Tuesday, was also felt on Camano Island.
