Alternative Radio journalist to speak in Clinton

Investigative journalist David Barsamian will visit Whidbey Island next week for a special program at the Whidbey Institute at Chinook.
The program is called “Uprisings: From Kashmir to Egypt to Wall Street” — 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 at Thomas Berry Hall — and focuses on Barsamian’s recent experiences in India.
He was deported from that country due to his work on Kashmir and other revolts. He’ll also discuss world affairs, the state of journalism, the economic crisis and global rebellions.
Described as one of America’s most tireless and wide-ranging investigative journalists, Barsamian is known for his weekly radio show, Alternative Radio, which is now in its 25th year.
He is also an author who has written with Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Tariq Ali, Arundhati Roy and Edward Said. His latest book with Noam Chomsky is “How the World Works” (Real Story, September 2011).
