Andy Davis, the Falcon head coach, took 17 South Whidbey girls to basketball camp out in Eastern Washington this week.

It was a time to work on plays, conditioning and team bonding. South Whidbey’s varsity team will be largely intact next season as the Falcons lose one senior from their 2013-14 squad.

The Falcons practiced at Prosser High School in the very gym that Davis once played in as a young man. They also took part in team bonding exercises like a ropes course. They were scheduled to return to Whidbey Island on Wednesday.

One of the quirkier visits of the trip was a stop at a 7-11 in Kennewick, home of the world Slurpee sales leader.

“When we went there I told the girls that we were visiting a National Landmark,” Davis said in an email.

South Whidbey’s girls basketball season starts in late November.
