With only one person interested in the job, the election for a seat on the Whidbey Island Conservation District Board of Supervisors has been canceled, a district official said Wednesday.

The election had been planned for Jan. 31.

Antonia Palkovic, the incumbent, was the only person to file as a candidate. As a result, the conservation district will not hold an election.

Palkovic will be automatically re-elected to a three-year term that runs from May 2012 to May 2015.

A Langley resident, Palkovic currently co-manages Molly’s Island Garden and grows vegetables for Molly’s CSA, local farmers markets, grocers and restaurateurs.
