Another in a series of public meetings to continue work on creating a customized set of development regulations for Freeland will be next week.

The Freeland Development Regulation Steering Committee meeting will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Grigware Hall at Trinity Lutheran Church, Highway 525 in Freeland.

It’s the ninth meeting in a series of 10 meetings scheduled. The bulk of this first phase of discussion has focused on the downtown commercial core. All interested persons are urged to attend.

Development in Freeland is currently guided by the same rules used throughout Island County. The county and Freeland residents are attempting to create rules specifically pertaining to future development in the Freeland area, South Whidbey’s largest commercial center.
