Langley quilter is semi-finalist in contest

A quilter from South Whidbey has been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2011 American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show & Contest.
Janet Steadman of Langley has been chosen to display the quilts “Windows” and “Broken” in the annual exhibition. The competition, now in its 27th year, will be held April 27-30 at the Paducah Expo Center in Paducah, Ky.
Three quilting authorities wlll judge the nearly 400 entries in the contest, awarding first-, second- and third-place prizes in 15 categories, along with nine overall awards. Winners wlll be announced at an awards presentation, which takes place at the Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah on Tuesday, April 26, and cash awards totaling $120,000 will be granted.
Quilts in the international contest come from 45 U.S. states and 15 other countries, and the show is expected to draw more than 30,000 people.
