“You’ve heard about it and you’re paying for it, but chances are that you have never seen 40 acres of new park land purchase last fall by the South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District.Saturday April 8 is the day to get up close and personal with this parcel of rolling, forested land which will someday be home to woodland trails and possibly ballfields and other park facilities. Starting at 11 a.m., parks director Jerry Cole will lead all comers on a tour of the land and will detail what the district plans to do with it.The tour will include some energetic hiking and some bushwhacking, as the land has not been developed yet. Cole recommends that tour participants bring rain gear and boots for the one-hour event. Those participating are asked to meet at the outdoor basketball hoops near the district’s Maxwelton Road offices. For more information, call the district at 221-5484.”
