It’s time for some facts | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor: I wanted to respond to Mr. See’s letter about my being a “Far Left” type and why I feel it necessary to throw “rocks at the Republicans.” In fairness, I would throw in spineless Democrats who won’t stand up to Republican bullying.

To the editor:

I wanted to respond to Mr. See’s letter about my being a “Far Left” type and why I feel it necessary to throw “rocks at the Republicans.” In fairness, I would throw in spineless Democrats who won’t stand up to Republican bullying.

I am going to state facts only:

The Republicans stood by, not saying a word, when the mighty American military machine went into a preemptive war against a country that did not attack us. It is a known fact that Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11, yet we have been there since, brutalizing the people. I should add that this has caused the deaths of at least a million innocent people, and has caused at least 4 million people to flee their homes, resulting in the second largest humanitarian disaster on earth. As this atrocity has unfolded, the Republicans are mute.

The Republicans stood by, not saying a word, when the Taliban in Afghanistan offered to hand over Osama Bin Laden for trial in a neutral country and George W. Bush refused the offer. Why? I suspect it’s because not even the FBI has found supporting evidence to bring charges. Bush just wanted a war. It would be good for his re-election, and plus it’s very profitable. And war profiteers, “his base,” had to be paid back for all the political contributions.

The Republicans stood by, not saying a word, when the office of Vice President Cheney through Scooter Libby, Karl Rove and Robert Novak outed Valerie Plame, a CIA operative working covertly on the control of weapons of mass destruction projects around the world. Cheney, Libby, Rove and Novak arguably committed treason, yet the Republicans were mute.

Mr. See, when you use generalities instead of specifics it makes me think you don’t know what you’re talking about. Maybe you’re getting your news and “facts” from Fox and friends or Glenn Beck. For instance, re: education, you state, “Their children continue to outperform ours. Why? Unions.”

Are you kidding? Labor unions made America, so if you could state facts about how unions have decimated our educational system, or any other American institution, it would help.

I could go on with a huge list of facts, but I think you get my point.

In closing, I am glad for your retirement and I suspect you get a “Social Security entitlement” or maybe a union pension fund check as part of your funding, yet you denigrate people if they need help, or as you say, “handouts.”

I guess you’re one of those Republicans whose actions say: “I’ve got mine, screw you.”

Shame on you Mr. See.
