Letter: Citizens of Ebey’s Reserve has self to blame for Navy’s lack of flexibility

Editor,

The Navy has no choice but to stand it’s ground with regard to scheduling at Outlying Field Coupeville.

Citizens of Ebey’s Reserve will beg for an inch and then go to court to get a mile. This year it’s “suspend flights due to the heat.” Last year, it was “suspend flights because of COVID.”

Next month it will be something else.

All COER cares about is getting the Navy to appear to admit that this absolutely necessary training is somehow “optional” or “convenient.”

The residents of Central Whidbey have COER to thank for the Navy’s seeming inflexibility.
