Letter: Support for island zombies is valued

Editor,

I wish to express appreciation and acknowledgement to the folks who made this year’s “Zombie” Thriller Flash mob on Halloween such a success.

First off, a big thank you to all of 31 dancers who rehearsed for a month to get ready for our two performances, their creative costumes and dedicated efforts to transition themselves into real zombies. A big shout out to South Whidbey Record/Whidbey News-Times writer Kira Erickson and staff photographer David Welton for the article in the Oct. 28th paper giving us some great publicity.

Appreciation goes to owner Callahan McVay who graciously offered up his outdoor space at Callahan’s Firehouse Studio and Gallery along with his fantastic fog machine for our first performance. Appreciation also goes to Daniel and Marissa Thomis, owners of Double Bluff Brewery who provided the second outdoor venue for our flash mob performance along with the use of their sound system. Finally, thanks to all of you that came out to cheer us on! Your smiles and joy were felt by all of us and it was the largest crowd we’ve ever had! We’ll be back next year!

Daunne Zinger,

“Thriller” flash mob leader and dancer
