LETTER TO THE EDITOR | Assuming too much, thinking too little

Editor,

Consider Donald Trump. His loud speeches contain no hint of how he would mobilize or alter government to reach his ends. History 80 years ago demonstrates how a dramatic figure can mobilize his own cohort to take action, especially given wild public approbation.

Deporting 12 million Mexicans need not tax the United States military. Trump volunteers can be easily mobilized via Twitter. He could claim he was saving the taxpayers “massive” amounts of money.

We need to wake up and stop assuming others can solve our difficult dilemmas. I’m afraid we already assume far too much, and think too little.
